Cloud 9? Different states are engaged on authorized sports activities betting

When the Supreme Court ended PASPA in the May 2018Most thought it would take a few years for legal sports betting to become accepted in most of the US.

It looks like that turning point is already here.

Legal US sports betting is available in 21 jurisdictions so far with more on the way. The last start was Virginiawho are on time for Super bowl.

It’s not just about legalization either. Multiple states including new York and Oregon, sports betting bills that would change how betting works in their states.

Here are efforts in seven other states worth keeping an eye on:

Maryland should get legal sports betting this year

Many are eagerly awaiting the sports betting legislation Maryland after voters last approved sports betting November.

We’re still waiting for laws that would legalize MD sports betting, however SB 24 is associated.

Senator Chris West want that Maryland State Fair and Agricultural Society to also get a license so that they can offer bets on the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

Mississippi is trying again for cell phones

Mississippi Sports betting is alive and well, but only in retail sports betting. Mobile betting is technically permitted, but is geofenced on the property of a casino.

Fully mobile MS sports betting legislation has failed for years, but there are three bills trying again this year. None of the calculations seem to change the market significantly.

Senator Scott DeLano‘s SB 2396 is short and sweet. It would enable every casino operator to offer one online sports betting at a time.

Senator Philip Moran‘s SB 2732 and Rep. Jay McKnight’s HB 1042 Adapt existing legislation to online betting across the state. Moran’s bill also expands the betting options Sports and the Olympia.

Nebraska has three suggestions for sports betting

There are several bills that would legalize sports betting Nebraska after residents approved the casinos in a referendum last November.

Senator Justin Wayne tries again to legalize his Games of Skill Act by LB 545This would enable both sports betting and certain online poker games. All games of skill would have taxed income 25%.

It is. Tom Briese wants to legalize sports betting on casino racetracks across the state LB 560. He wants to recharge $ 1 million as a one-time fee for offering bets that would not include bets on colleges in Nebraska. The bill would do it Nebraska Racing and Gaming Commissionthat would set the tax rate.

Mobile betting would be allowed although geofenced to the casino properties in “Mississippi Mobile” mode.

The third attempt, LR 26is a referendum that would allow Nebraska voters to decide whether or not sports betting should be legal.

New Hampshire could add retail sports betting

New Hampshire is the land of DraftKings Sports Betting after the state gave DK a monopoly outside of lottery-based betting Intralotthat has not yet started.

The state restricted physical sports betting to NH 10but there are a couple of bills that would change that.

HB 330 Removes the 10 license cap and allows live betting on retail sports betting. HB 181 would let more cities and municipalities vote on whether citizens want sports betting for retailers there and there HB 354 adjusted the language of the election question.

In New Mexico, gambling at Racinos could be expanded

New Mexico already has sports betting in various tribal casinos but has seen this expanded.

HB 101 would legalize sports betting and table games on the state’s five racetracks. These tracks are already racinos – they operate slot machines and various table games, but these tables are automated games.

The legislation includes online sports betting, which means the state’s tribal casinos could offer betting apps as well. State law provides for this six Racinos, so there are of course six licenses for sports betting and table games.

Sports betting would pay a $ 10,000 Registration fee with an annual $ 5,000 Renewal fee. Income from sports betting would also be taxed 10%.

Sports betting in North Dakota could also go online

The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians could have influenced this North Dakota Online betting calculation a bit.

The Chippewa announced last year that they would join forces IGT To start sports betting in their casinos. HB 1448 I would go a step further and allow the gaming tribes to start online casino and sports betting.

A Senate Companion is not available on the website, although HB 1448 also lists Sen. Richard Marcellais as a sponsor. Marcellais was previously chairman of Chippewa.

Washington wants to include map rooms and racetracks

Last year the legislature passed a law to legalize sports betting Washington Condition, but it wasn’t complete. Legislators chose the proposal that most constrained the market: no online betting and only in tribal casinos.

SB 5212 aims to change that. Card halls and racetracks across the state are allowed to offer sports betting, and online betting is also legalized.

Any licensed game operator would pay $ 100,000 for a betting license and would get a skin each. Income from sports betting would also be taxed 10%.
