Washington Sports Betting on Course for NFL Launch After New Tribal Compacts

Sports betting could become a reality in Washington thereby NFL Season.

On Thursday the Washington State Gambling Commission approved renegotiated gaming compacts with fifteen Tribes in the state.

The new compacts now include WA sports betting and will be next on. Posted government Jay Inslees Office for his signature.

Legal and Legislative Officer of the Commission Brian Considine said the commission quickly followed up the sports betting rules to go live by the end of August.

Draft rules are expected to be released on. released 7th of July. Then, after a period of public comment, they could possibly be approved on July 28th.

The commission will offer three license types for different sizes of seller (not payable by the tribes). The maximum is charged $ 85,000 for an annual license.

These fees are reviewed annually to ensure that they are in line with the Commission’s costs.

The chairman of the commission, Bud Sizemore, praised an “enormous achievement” in the approval of the compacts.

“There’s a lot of work in there and I want to thank everyone who is involved in this process,” said Sizemore.

Sports betting history in Washington

Washington was the first state in 2020 Adopt sports betting law. It is limited to retail sports betting operated by Washington tribes.

once ESHB 2638 passed, the state and the tribes had to revise existing gaming contracts to include sports betting.

There are 29 Venues operated by 22nd Tribes in the state.

Washington Sports Betting Next Steps

As soon as Inslee has signed the new compacts, it goes to United States Department of the Interior for consideration and publication in Federal Register.

Sports betting in the state cannot begin until it is published.

Is Sports Betting Getting Big in Washington?

A current survey by FM3 research In favor of Washington Indian Gaming Association found 41% the voters are for the expansion of sports betting.

The state has around 7.6 million People, although of course the lack of mobile sports betting will hinder the market.
